Welcome to the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Corporation.

Breckenridge Independent School District: The BISD serves a total of 840 square miles in Stephens County and is comprised of three elementary schools (K-6), one junior high (7-8), and one senior high school (9-12). Kindergarten is offered to all five year olds. In addition, the BISD includes a gifted and talented program. Special education is available to preschool students through the Early Childhood Education Program. Enrollment is approximately 1,900 students. North and East Elementary schools have been granted an Exemplary Rating.

Texas State Technical College: In the spring of 1989, the Community of Breckenridge turned to Texas State Technical Institute (TSTI) to open a campus in Breckenridge. Within a few months, the Legislature and the Governor of Texas approved the creation of the Rural Technology Center in Breckenridge. The technology center began classes in the fall of 1990 providing technical education to meet the needs of Texas business and industry. Now known as Texas State Technical College (TSTC), the Breckenridge campus is part of the state-wide system of technical colleges with a state-wide role and mission. The Breckenridge, Brownwood, Abilene, and Sweetwater campus are collectively referred to as TSTC West Texas.

The small, student-oriented campus in Breckenridge features certificates and Associate of Applied Science degrees for a variety of technical careers including: Air Conditioning Technology, Associate Degree Nursing, Chemical Dependency Counseling, Computer Aided Drafting & Design Technology, Computer Networking Systems and Administration, Computer Science Database & Web Programming, Construction Management Technology, Digital Signage Technology, Energy Management, Environmental Science Technology, Health Information Technology, Software & Business Accounting, Software & Business Publishing, Vocational Nursing, and Welding Technology.

TSTC West Texas Breckenridge is comprised of 4 facilities located at 307 N. Breckenridge Avenue, 415 N. Breckenridge Avenue, 211 N. Court Street, and 942 County Road 176. The Campus features a library, two interactive distance learning classrooms, two computer labs, a computerized testing lab, student support services, a bookstore, a construction shop, a chemistry lab, a nursing lab, an air conditioning technology shop, and a welding shop. TSTC offers a wide range of learning opportunities for students by integrating hands-on classroom experience, lecture, online, and distance learning technologies. Student organizations include a local chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, Student Government Association, the Real Education on Addiction Can Help (REACH) Club, the Construction Management technology Club, and the Vocational Nursing Club.

Scholarships are available to eligible students at the Breckenridge campus due to the generosity of the local community. Scholarship funds are provided by local donors, student clubs, memorials, and endowments.
